Remove duplicate lines
Remove repeated lines from a list, with options to sort, trim spaces, ignore case and drop empty lines.
What is the remove duplicate lines used for?
Lists often contain the same entry more than once: email addresses collected from several sources, keyword lists, product codes, names, or lines copied from a spreadsheet. Removing the repeats by hand is slow and error-prone. This tool keeps the first occurrence of every line and removes the rest.
Paste your list, one item per line. Choose whether capital letters should be ignored, whether spaces around each line should be trimmed, whether empty lines should be dropped, and whether the result should be sorted from A to Z. The counts show how many lines were removed.
Why use this one
It cleans, de-duplicates and sorts in one pass and keeps the original order unless you ask for sorting. Large lists are handled quickly, and nothing you paste leaves your device.
Frequently asked questions
Which copy of a duplicate is kept?
The first occurrence stays in its original position, and every later copy is removed. If you choose Sort A to Z, the kept lines are then sorted.
Does it treat Apple and apple as the same line?
Yes, when Ignore case is ticked. Untick it to keep them as different lines.
What does Trim spaces do?
It removes spaces at the start and end of each line before comparing, so cherry and cherry with spaces count as duplicates.
Can I use it for email lists?
Yes. Paste one address per line, tick Ignore case and Trim spaces, and copy the cleaned list. Email addresses are not case sensitive in practice.
Is there a limit on list size?
There is no fixed limit, but very large lists of hundreds of thousands of lines may be slow in your browser.
