Percentage to CGPA

0CGPA with the formula above

Check which formula your university, board or employer accepts. The result is indicative, not an official conversion.

What is the cgpa to percentage converter used for?

CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) is the grade-point score used by many Indian universities and boards on a 10-point scale. Applications for jobs, higher studies and some exams ask for a percentage instead, so students convert their CGPA.

The conversion depends on the institution. CBSE multiplies the CGPA by 9.5, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) uses (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, and many others use a plain multiplication by 10. Pick the formula that matches your institution and read off the percentage, or enter a percentage to get the CGPA.

Why use this one

It puts the three most-used formulas side by side and converts both ways. It runs in your browser, with no sign-up and nothing uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

What is the CBSE CGPA to percentage formula?

Percentage = CGPA × 9.5. A CGPA of 8.2 gives 8.2 × 9.5 = 77.9%.

What is the VTU formula?

Percentage = (CGPA − 0.75) × 10. A CGPA of 8.2 gives (8.2 − 0.75) × 10 = 74.5%.

Which formula should I use?

Use the one your own university or board publishes, or the one the college or employer you are applying to asks for. If none is specified, state the formula you used.

Is this an official conversion?

No. Only your institution can issue an official equivalence. This tool gives an indicative figure.

How do I convert a percentage back to CGPA?

Reverse the formula: for CBSE divide by 9.5, for VTU divide by 10 and add 0.75, for the simple method divide by 10. The second box does this for you.
