EDUCATION TOOLS / POMODORO TIMER

Pomodoro timer

A simple Pomodoro study timer with focus, short break and long break sessions and a sound when time is up.

25:00

Focus sessions completed today: 0

What is the pomodoro timer used for?

The Pomodoro Technique is a study and work method that splits time into short, focused sessions, traditionally 25 minutes, separated by short breaks. After four sessions you take a longer break. Students use it to stay focused during exam preparation, and professionals use it to avoid distractions and burnout.

Press Start and work until the timer ends and a sound plays. The timer then switches to a short break, and after four focus sessions to a long break. You can change the length of each session to suit you.

Why use this one

The remaining time shows in the browser tab title, so you can keep the timer in a background tab. It is built from your device clock, so it stays accurate even when the tab is not in front. It needs no sign-up and stores nothing.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Pomodoro Technique?

It is a time-management method created by Francesco Cirillo. You work in focused blocks of about 25 minutes, take a 5-minute break, and after four blocks take a longer 15 to 30 minute break.

Can I change the session lengths?

Yes. Set your own minutes for focus, short break and long break. Some people prefer 50 minutes of focus with a 10-minute break.

Will the timer work if I switch tabs?

Yes. It uses your device clock, so it keeps the right time in the background, and the remaining time appears in the tab title. Keep the page open until the sound plays.

Why does the timer not play a sound?

Some browsers block sound until you have interacted with the page. Click Start once, and make sure the volume is on.

Are my sessions saved?

No. The count of completed sessions resets when you close or refresh the page.
