BUSINESS TOOLS / SIP CALCULATOR

SIP calculator

Estimate the future value of a monthly SIP in a mutual fund, with the invested amount and estimated returns.

Returns are an assumption, not a promise. Actual mutual fund returns vary and can be negative.

What is the sip calculator used for?

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) lets you invest a fixed amount in a mutual fund every month instead of a large sum at once. A SIP calculator estimates what such a series of monthly investments could grow to over a chosen number of years, if the fund earns a steady yearly return.

Enter your monthly amount, the return you assume and the number of years. You see how much you invested, the estimated gain from compounding, and the estimated final value, plus a year-by-year table.

Why use this one

The year-by-year table makes the effect of compounding visible: the longer you stay invested, the larger the share of the final value that comes from returns instead of your own deposits. It runs in your browser, needs no sign-up, and you can change any value and see the result immediately.

Frequently asked questions

How is the SIP future value calculated?

Future value = M × [((1 + i)^n − 1) ÷ i] × (1 + i), where M is the monthly amount, i is the monthly return (yearly rate ÷ 12 ÷ 100) and n is the number of months. Each instalment is assumed to be invested at the start of the month.

What return should I assume?

There is no guaranteed rate. Use a cautious figure and try a few values, such as 8%, 10% and 12%, to see a range. Past returns of a fund do not promise future returns.

Is the result guaranteed?

No. Mutual fund returns are market-linked and can be lower than assumed or even negative. This tool shows an estimate for planning, not a forecast.

Does it include taxes, expense ratio or exit load?

No. Taxes and fund charges reduce the actual return you receive, so the real figure is usually lower than the estimate.

Can I change the SIP amount every year?

This version assumes a constant monthly amount. For a rising amount, run the calculation for each stage separately and add the results as a rough estimate.
