The problem with “we think it was short”
Most warehouses know their deliveries are sometimes short or in excess. What they often lack is a record made at the moment of receiving. By the time someone raises it, the boxes are shelved, the driver is gone and the supplier asks for evidence.
Three steps that change the conversation
- Approve the purchase first. Receiving against a purchase nobody has approved is how disputes start.
- Scan box by box. Each box is recorded against the receipt, so a short carton is visible as a short carton.
- Record shortage and excess against the purchase. The comparison between what was ordered and what arrived is kept in the inward report.
What this does not solve
A record is not a remedy. You still have to agree with the supplier what to do about a shortage. What changes is that you start that call with a document, not a memory.
How Stockify handles it
Stockify keeps an approval gate before receiving, box-wise barcode capture and shortage and excess reconciliation in inward reports. See the Stockify page for the full list, including what we do not claim.
